I know this blog is about 2 months overdue, but life intervened in the form of no creativity, no internet, followed by massive amounts of projects to be done (~50% spread out over 3 of my courses i believe). Anyways, alot has happened in two months i suppose. So here we go, hopefully I don't forget anything important!

1. The regular season ended. Last game in the league, and its us vs Lethbridge. Currently tied for 2nd place, a win gives us first place, a ot/so loss gives us 2nd, and a loss leaves us in third overall. We win it, 5-4, and the Central Alberta Amazons are confirmed to be the best team in the league!! No big deal haha. Not much time to celebrate, since we are in playoffs by the next weeked.

2. Round 1!  Best of 3 Vs cochrane, the only team to beat us more than once all year. Also the bottom team in our division. Whoops!! Anyways, we lose the first one, 1-0, mostly due to the fact that they affiliated a bunch of AAA players with the weekend off. We win game 2 (4-1) and its on to a winner takes all game 3. They don't have any affiliates (they all have their own playoffs) and we easily dispatch them 6-0.  rrrrround two!

3. Round 2, and south division finals. vs Lethbridge. A good series is expected, and its what we get. We win the first game, which required overtime (5 min, 4 on 4) and a shootout (10 shooters each i think!) To decide the winner! Our goalie stands on her head, we finally get one. Game 2 is not our lucky day. We kind of break down, and the well coached Lethbridge take it 5-2, forcing us to make the 4 hour trip down to lethbridge to decide the division champion. This one was a good game, and after we trade goals in the 2nd, take a 2-1 lead in the 3rd, only to have them tie it in the last few minutes, another shootout is needed. (thats a rule that needs to be changed. way to stressful for a playoff game). Anyways, this time we make no mistakes, and shooters 2 and 3 score, and our goalie stops their first 2. South Division champs, and its onto the league finals!!!

Those start on friday, and we are all soooo pumped! I'm finally gonna have some games up north, much closer to my family, so I'm hoping to fill the stands with our supporters haha. We play spruce grove, yes, this Spruce Grove, who have beefed up their skeletal roster with players who's teams are already knocked out. With them, they went from being the worst team in the north, to beating out the 1st, 2nd and 4th ranked teams. So we really have no idea what to expect, besides a huge challenge. We have a good team though, and hopefully once we find a crack in their armor, we will be able to force them apart and win. Fingers crossed!! Hopefully I will remember to update the SSH community afterwards.

Playoffs just seem to take on a life of their own, different than the regular season, no matter what level you play. At least half of my team has been playing either sick or hurt, and girls are shot blocking (and lets face it, it completely goes against human nature). Case in point, 5 min left of the 2nd in game 3 vs lethbridge, we're tied 1-1, and a scramble infront of our net leaves everyone out of position, including our goalie. puck squirts out to the point, and the ext thing I know, I'm down to block it (I have been taught how to do it properly, but it doesn't always happen). Puck hits me, I lay on it for the whistle. My arm is killing me, and, well...

That would be my bicep one day later. Let me tell you, I have scrawny little spaghetti arms, and this swelled up so much my right bicep looked ripped, especially compared to the left. I missed the last few minutes of the period, took two advil, and was back on for the rest of the game. And I know anyone of my teammates, and almost all hockey players would do the same. my arm still hurts, and I can't actually straighten it, but we won the game, and thats all that matters. THAT'S playoff hockey.

In other news, school's almost done, only about 3 weeks remaining! Who's excited! I'll be going to the university of alberta in the fall though, not so excited about that. Oh well, one must grow up sometime. Also, my plan have been finalized for my european vacations (April 28-June 30) with my sister, and the 5 weeks cannot pass soon enough!! Just over a week after my last final, I will be in prague and ready to hit as many countries as possible!

Anyways, hopefully everyone's playoffs/end of season/ etc is going good, Best of luck to everyone still playing! Until next time, keep your head up and your stick on the ice.
